Deuka is both an institution under construction and a research proposition. Its central claims should not be treated as proven merely because they are morally attractive.

Can belonging-first membership improve mutual support without producing coercion? Can local institutions integrate care and livelihood without becoming administratively unmanageable? Can community ownership increase resilience and reduce long-term subsidy? Can federation provide scale without centralising authority? These are empirical questions.

What already has a foundation

Drishtee’s field experience provides practical knowledge in decentralised enterprise, women-led production, financial access, last-mile delivery, local institutions, route-based markets, capability transfer and community engagement. This is an operating foundation, not proof of the complete Deuka model.

Community science and research ethics

Members should not become passive subjects from whom data is extracted. Research questions, consent, use of findings and benefit-sharing should be discussed openly. Sensitive information must remain protected. Publication should not compromise dignity or expose communities to reputational harm.

The knowledge commons

Methods, tools, case studies and non-sensitive learning should be shared in ways that help other communities and institutions. The knowledge commons should recognise contributors, respect local ownership and avoid the appropriation of indigenous or community knowledge.
